A Coastal Summer Wedding at The Lakehouse in Halifax, Massachusetts
There are some wedding venues that just photograph beautifully from every angle, and The Lakehouse in Halifax, Massachusetts is absolutely one of them.
Set along the water on the South Shore, The Lakehouse has this perfect mix of coastal New England scenery and elevated, modern design. Warm wood tones, soft neutral spaces, views of the lake, and so much gorgeous natural light make it an incredible backdrop for a wedding day—and this summer celebration fit the venue perfectly.

A Classic Coastal Wedding at The Lakehouse
The design for the day felt elevated without being overly formal. Coastal blues were layered with natural wood tones and thoughtful details throughout the space, while disco balls brought in just the right amount of fun for the reception.
Everything felt cohesive and intentional, but still relaxed—which is one of my favorite things about photographing weddings at The Lakehouse. The venue already has so much character that couples can really make it their own without needing to completely transform the space.
And then, of course, there's the water.
We made time for portraits around the property and along the lake, mixing romantic, editorial images with the candid moments happening naturally throughout the day. The combination of the water, greenery, warm wood architecture, and soft summer light gave us so much variety without ever having to leave the venue.
Wedding Photography at The Lakehouse in Halifax
From a photography perspective, The Lakehouse is such a dream.
I always want couples to have beautiful portraits without feeling like their entire wedding day revolves around taking photos. A venue like The Lakehouse makes that incredibly easy because there are so many beautiful locations within a few steps of each other.
We could move between waterfront portraits, the surrounding woods and greenery, and the venue itself while still keeping the day relaxed and allowing the couple to actually spend time with their guests.
Some of my favorite photographs from this wedding are the ones that happened in between everything else—the reactions during the ceremony, people laughing together during cocktail hour, little glances across the room, and all of the completely unplanned moments that end up telling the story of the day.
An Elegant Reception—and a Packed Dance Floor
Once the reception started, the entire feel of the gallery shifted.
The coastal palette and wood tones looked beautiful during dinner, and the disco balls became even better once the lights went down and the dance floor filled up.
This is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day to photograph. I love mixing the clean, timeless imagery from earlier in the day with flash-filled reception photos that feel energetic, imperfect in the best way, and completely alive.
And this crowd gave me plenty to work with.
The dance floor was packed, the energy was incredible, and the resulting photographs feel exactly how the night felt.
Before leaving, I also photographed an end-of-night wedding flat lay, bringing together some of the couple's details after they had actually been worn and enjoyed throughout the day. I love doing flat lays this way when the timeline calls for it. The details still get documented beautifully without taking time away from the moments unfolding earlier in the wedding.
